Gareth Bale wants to stay at Real Madrid for the rest of his career despite Zinedine Zidane’s return to the Bernabeu, according to the Welshman’s agent.

Bale was not on the greatest of terms with Zidane when the Frenchman left Real in May after overseeing a third successive Champions League triumph.

The former Tottenham forward was used as a substitute in Kiev as Real beat Liverpool and scored an acrobatic goal as Los Blancos claimed a fourth crown in five years.

They are already out of this year’s competition after a humbling defeat by Ajax which compounded a nightmare eight days for ex-boss Santiago Solari.



Bale’s future is up in the air following Zidane’s return

He oversaw back-to-back Clasico defeats which saw them crash out of the Copa del Rey and their title hopes effectively ended.

That led to Zidane’s return, and Bale’s representative Jonathan Bartlett has lifted the lid on their fractious relationship.

“Gareth wanted to play one way and Zidane wanted him to play another,” he told the BBC’s Football Daily podcast. “Over the period of time it just got worse.

“He is very happy. He will talk with Zinedine Zidane and we will go from there.

“If you let him play how he wants to play, and have a run of games, he can be right up there.”
