Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given Manchester United fans an insight as to how the club could line up in the future.

The caretaker boss, who has been in charge since December, has got to know his players extremely well over the past few weeks.

The Norwegian recently spent a solid few days away with just the squad in Dubai on a warm weather break.

While in the United Arab Emirates, it appears Solskjaer peered into the future. The 45-year-old discussed Marcus Rashford’s potential and named two youth players who could play alongside the striker and Jesse Lingard.

Speaking about Rashford in Dubai, Solskjaer said: “There were a couple of sessions here with the young kids – Chongy [Tahith Chong] and Angel [Gomes], him and Jesse [Lingard] – they played together in a certain way.”

On the striker, he added: “He’s got frightening pace, he’s now become stronger and can hold the ball up for us. He’s a great link player and he’s been brought up here. He’s a very exciting player to work with.”

Despite leading United to five wins from a possible five, Solskjaer may not be in charge for next season.

Asked if he’s talked about his contract with Ed Woodward, he replied: “No, we’ve not had that conversation.

“You don’t plan five or six months ahead and then suddenly, after two weeks, change that.

“No, nothing’s changed. We just keep working every single day on improving the team here.

“I work with a fantastic coaching staff, I have to say. We’ll put a plan together on how we want to look the next few months.”
